Mission

The Office of Assessment and Student Engagement fosters student success and a university community by providing expertise, training, leadership and technical assistance to offices within the Division of Student Affairs and College of Undergraduate Studies in developing, coordinating, maintaining and reporting the results of high-quality assessment, evaluation and research projects.

Vision

The Office of Assessment and Student Engagement will be a catalyst for developing a "Culture of Assessment" wherein intentional, effective and efficient programs and services can be developed and refined to support the mission of the division, college and the institution. Toward realizing this vision, we

  • Develop and coordinate assessment, evaluation and research projects that are aligned with the NSU Experience strategic engagement model and the mission of the division, college and the university
  • Consult with offices on all assessment, evaluation and research projects to identify strategies, resources and collaborative opportunities
  • Create and implement logical policies and efficient processes
  • Communicate useful and accurate information to inform and promote data-driven decision making
  • Guide the development, refinement and measurement of student learning and development outcomes
  • Maintain on-going conversations about student learning and development outcomes and the merit of assessment
  • Provide developmental opportunities for staff to increase their knowledge of assessment, evaluation and research
  • Offer creative coaching and feedback regarding NSU Experience planning
  • Initiate and leverage relationships with campus assessment, evaluation and research personnel
  • Contribute to the field of Assessment
