Parking and Traffic Policy

Nova Southeastern University is an independent university, and as such, the streets, parking lots, and other areas of the university are private property. The operation and/or parking of any vehicle on Nova Southeastern University property is a privilege, not a right. The university has the right to regulate the use of motor vehicles on its property for the good and the safety of everyone.

Please refer to our Campus Parking Regulations document below for complete details on parking and traffic policies, rules, regulations and enforcement.

Parking Permits

All Nova Southeastern University employees, students, and outside contractors who park on campus must obtain a parking permit for any vehicle parked on campus. Parking permits are available at the One-Stop Shop on the 1st floor of the Horvitz Administration Building on main campus.

The acquisition of a parking permit only authorizes the parking of a vehicle on campus. It does not establish a designated parking space. A vehicle parked in any unauthorized area is in violation of the regulations for parking at NSU.

Visitor Parking

All visitors parking at NSU's Main Campus need to do one of the following:

  • Display a visitors parking permit (available at the One Stop Shop)
  • Utilize the pay for parking spaces (parking garage by the library)
  • Use timed spaces (1-2 hrs) for short-term parking.

It is important that you park in visitor lots only. Campus maps are available which show designated visitor parking spaces within each lot. For maps, permits, and directions, you may inquire at the One Stop Shop on the 1st floor of the Horvitz Administration Building, which is located off of College Avenue.

If you have an appointment with admissions, or are attending a special event on-campus, you may have been issued an event-parking placard. Please follow the directions for displaying your placard, and park in your designated event area to avoid parking problems.

Definition of a Visitor

A visitor is someone not directly affiliated with Nova Southeastern University. Spouses and children of faculty members, staff members, and students are considered to be affiliated with Nova Southeastern University and thus are not included in the definition of a visitor.
