Julie Spechler is the Director of Public Affairs at Nova Southeastern University. She is responsible for the development and implementation of NSU's public relations strategic plan for both internal and external audiences. As such, she oversees media relations at the local, regional, national and international levels and internal and external communications, such as NSU’s magazine Horizons and the university’s Annual Report.
Prior to joining NSU, Spechler spent 25 years at AT&T, where she served as the company’s Public Relations Director for Florida. Her responsibilities included supporting the firm’s business and consumer efforts in a variety of PR initiatives, including media relations, employee communications, executive counseling, strategic philanthropy and public policy. Spechler got her start in the academia at Barry University, where she served as Alumni Director before joining AT&T/BellSouth.
Spechler has a B.S. in Journalism and Public Relations from University of Florida. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Cross-Disciplinary Studies from NSU’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. |

Felecia Henderson

Felecia Henderson is an Associate Director of Public Affairs for Nova Southeastern University. Her duties include providing public relations support for the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Center for Psychological Studies, Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies, the Don Taft University Center, the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale and Public Safety.
Prior to joining NSU, Henderson served as the Sports Information Director for Florida Memorial University, a Historically Black College (HBCU) located in Miami. She was responsible for all internal and external communications, event management, game operations and the marketing and promotional activities of the university’s intercollegiate athletic program.
Henderson holds a B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting) from California State University at Dominguez Hills and an M.S. in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University (Florida). |

Alan Hancock

Alan Hancock is an Associate Director of Public Affairs at Nova Southeastern University. His duties include providing public relations support for the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Shepard Broad Law Center, Criminal Justice Institute, Division of Student Affairs, Student Educational Centers and Athletics.
Prior to joining NSU, Hancock was an Editorial Producer for CBS Interactive for four years, producing the official website of the National Football League. Previously, he worked in media relations for various sports teams, including the Miami Heat.
Hancock holds a B.A. in English from Rollins College and an M.S. in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University (Florida). |

Andra Parrish Liwag

Andra Parrish Liwag is an Associate Director of Public Affairs for Nova Southeastern University. Her duties include providing public relations support for the Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center, the Fischler School of Education and Human Services, the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, and the University School’s Lower, Middle and Upper Schools.
Prior to joining Public Affairs, Liwag was Communications Manager for NSU’s Innovation Zone (IZone) where she created marketing and public relations materials and educated faculty and staff about online course development services. Before joining NSU, Liwag spent more than 10 years working with the Sun-Sentinel Company in various capacities, including as: Teenlink’s Designer and Photo Editor; as the company's public relations Communications Associate; as a Forum Publishing Group Assistant Editor and Reporter; and as a college and high school correspondent.
Formerly, Liwag also worked in the communications department of the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry, and was an adjunct journalism writing strategies instructor at Florida International University.
Liwag has a B.S. in Journalism with a minor in History from the University of Florida, where she graduated from with honors. |

Ken Ma

Ken Ma is an Associate Director of Public Affairs at Nova Southeastern University. His duties include providing public relations support for NSU Research and Technology Transfer, Oceanographic Center, Health Care Centers and the Health Professions Divisions, which includes six colleges: osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, dental medicine, optometry, medical sciences, and allied health and nursing.
Prior to joining NSU, Ma was a social services and minority affairs reporter at the Orlando Sentinel, where he was a part of several reporting teams that covered NASA’s first space shuttle launch after the Columbia tragedy; the Terri Schiavo story in Tampa Bay; and the destructive Central Florida tornadoes of 2007. Previously, Ma covered politics, government, education and public safety at several Southern California newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times. Prior to that, Ma interned at The Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington, D.C., where he wrote stories about the U.S. Department of Education and congressional legislation relating to higher education.
Ma holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Hawaii, where he also minored in U.S. History. He is currently pursuing his M.B.A. from NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. |
