U.S. Department of Education Awards NSU Unprecedented Title V Grant Focused on Graduate Program Offerings

NSU’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services has been awarded an unprecedented $2.7 million Title V Grant to further enhance the school's program and academic opportunities for its graduate students.

This is the first time the U.S. Department of Education has awarded Title V grant funding for graduate programs. NSU is one of only 22 schools in the nation to be awarded this funding, and one of three Florida schools to receive the grant.

The $2.7 million grant will allow NSU's Fischler School to:

  • Create a new NSU Doctoral Fellows program
  • Install a new Foundations of Graduate Studies in Education course to develop academic writing skills and help ensure students acclimate to graduate coursework and prepare them for academic success
  • Expand existing programs and create a new Office of Graduate Student Success to further increase retention
  • Increase mentor training and development for faculty, field associates and advanced graduate students.

NSU has previously been awarded two undergraduate Title V Grants totaling $5.6 million, which are being used to develop programs to increase undergraduate student success. In entirety, NSU has now been granted more than $8.3 million in Title V funding to continuously enhance programming for its students.
