M.B.A. Graduate Starts Franchise Company

Craig Martin, a recent M.B.A. graduate from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, and his wife, Babette, purchased a franchise company, EmbroidMe, in August 2009. Martin and his wife both own the franchise.

"She runs the daily operations of the store, and I am responsible for the financial aspects of the store and participate in the marketing," said Martin. "I perform these tasks at night and on the weekends, as I am a full-time employee at JM Family." Martin has worked for more than 10 years at JM Family Enterprises as a senior tax associate, business development manager, and a portfolio manager. He currently serves as a treasury manager.

Martin asserts that the education he received at NSU has helped him in his career at JM Family by increasing his knowledge of strategic management, situational analysis, and complex financial concepts such as economic profit. Earning his M.B.A. also aided him during the purchase of his franchise.
