More Than 900 Attend Library’s Free Summer Fun Kickoff Carnival
Have a blast this summer without spending a dime by making NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Technology Center your one-stop-shop for fun activities for all ages. Free programs for youth, teens and adults will take place June through August. The festivities began with the Summer Reading Kick-off Creativity Carnival on June 6, which attracted more than 900 patrons. At the carnival, participants signed up for the summer reading program to win prizes for reading all summer long, and saw Jiggleman perform a comedy-acrobatic show. The carnival also featured games, cotton candy, sno-cones, temporary tattoo art, and hair-painting. But the carnival was just the beginning, as the Alvin Sherman Library is offering numerous free summer activities, which range from Totally Tweens Creative Journaling, to the story telling Shermanettes who are back by popular demand, to a Computer Camp to teach adults how to connect online using tools such as Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. While at the library, don’t forget to avoid rental fees by stocking up on free checkouts of the latest Blu-Rays, DVDs and video games. Teens can also earn service hours by volunteering over the summer. For more information, please call 954-262-5477 or visit www.nova.edu/library/summer.
