“Quit Smoking Now” 6-Week Program Begins July 15 “Quit Smoking Now” group classes will begin on Wednesday, July 15, 6:00 p.m., in the Alvin Sherman Library, room 4009. The NSU AHEC "Quit Smoking Now" Program, part of the Florida State-wide AHEC Network, offers a tobacco cessation curriculum developed by ex-smokers. Classes will meet on campus for 2 hours each week for 6 weeks, and will cover a wide range of topics to help you through the cessation process. Topics include:
NSU employees, students and their immediate families will also receive a FREE 6-week supply of non-prescription Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) gums, patches, or lozenges, while supplies last. Registration fee is $25 however; the fee will be refunded upon completion of the six week program. To register, call 954-262-1588. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. NSU has adopted Healthy Sharks, a tobacco restriction policy to promote healthy lifestyles and ensure clean air around campus buildings while greatly reducing exposure to secondhand smoke. NSU employees and students who want to quit smoking are encouraged to take advantage of the University’s multiple tobacco cessation programs and resources which will be available year-round.
