Law Professor Participates in Conference, to Write Book Chapters


James Wilets, professor of law at NSU’s Shepard Broad Law Center, participated in the Williams Institute Conference in Los Angeles. As a result, he has been asked to teach two classes at the University of Ottawa during their winter break in 2010 and 2011. The 2010 class will be in English and focus on European Union law; the 2011 class will be in French and focus on human rights.

Wilets was also asked to write a chapter titled “A Comparative Perspective on LGBT Legal, Political and Social Progress and Gender Nonconformity in the Caribbean and Latin America, in the book Politics Of Sexual Diversity In Latin America: A Reader (Javier Corrales and Mario Pecheny, eds. Univ. of Pittsburgh Press, publication confirmed for fall, 2009). Wilets has had three chapters published on Honduras, El Salvador and Liberia for the Greenwood Encyclopedia of LGBT Issues Worldwide.
