“People Fair” Brings Learning to Life for Fourth Grade Students
More than 100 fourth grade students at University School recently got the chance to step outside of reality to become someone else for the day while participating in the “People Fair.” During the May 21 fair, students chose to “become” various leaders, including those who have had a major impact on humankind, well-known sports figures who have contributed to society, and even a famous person they admire in today’s world. While conducting research and preparing themselves to become their chosen person for the day, they also fulfilled the academic portion of the project. Students wrote biographies, constructed collages and awards, designed fictitious newspaper articles, dressed the part, and became immersed in the experience.
