NSU Partners with College Summit to Help High School Seniors

NSU in partnership with College Summit, the non-profit organization credited with helping nearly 35,000 low-income high school seniors navigate the college application process, will host a series of four workshops June 11- July 5.

Two hundred seniors from several high schools will participate in the workshops held on NSU’s main campus. Each workshop will consist of a four-day residential experience for the seniors.

The purpose of these workshops is to help high schools raise their college-enrollment rates by providing all students with a course in post-secondary planning, training teachers and counselors to build college-ready culture, equipping the most influential students in the school to help their peers apply to college, and helping school leaders track results.

As part of this program the College Summit participants will receive admissions information about NSU. As a result of this meaningful partnership with College Summit, the Fischler School of Education and Human Services will offer a $1,000 scholarship for all incoming undergraduate students who participate in the 2009 College Summit Workshop and are admitted into programs in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education, Pre-Kindergarten Primary Education, Secondary Biology Education or Secondary Mathematics Education.

It is NSU’s expectations to make this Summer Bridge program a transformational experience for our local high school students in need.
