Law Center Ranks Second in Degrees Awarded to Hispanics

Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center was ranked second on The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education’s list of law schools conferring the most degrees to Hispanics.

Based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics, the 65 law degrees that NSU awarded to Hispanics in 2007 was the second most in the United States, behind only the University of Texas-Austin, which awarded 82 law degrees to Hispanics. American University’s law school and the University of Miami’s law school tied for third place with 50 each. Other Florida schools in the top 10 include Stetson University, St. Thomas University and the University of Florida.

NSU also ranked sixth in the total number of Hispanics enrolled in its law school with 163 in 2007.

The rankings were included in Dec. 15, 2008, issue of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education.
