Faculty, staff and friends of William “Bill” Norberg gathered together to wish him well as he leaves for Iraq this summer. Norberg has been with NSU Public Safety since May 2006 and primarily assigned to the Horvitz Administration building. During his time in Iraq, Bill will serve as a logistical specialist with the 356th Quartermaster Battalion based in Lake Wales.

This is his first deployment and he is looking forward to the experience and to serving his country. Norberg’s unit, the 690th Military Police Company, recently returned from Afghanistan but he was unable to accompany them as he was still in specialized training.

During a recent interview with the Miami Herald, Shane Lam, field operations manager for NSU Public Safety, referred to Bill as a “remarkable officer.”

“I think it is a commendable action to volunteer to serve, and we wish him the best. Our entire department is behind him,” said Lam.
