Farquhar College to Present Faculty Lecture on Absolute Truth and the Scientific Method Evan Haskell, Ph.D., assistant professor of mathematics in the Division of Math, Science, and Technology in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, will deliver a talk entitled “Fuzzy Truth: What We Learn from Observing the World.” This presentation, part of the college’s Faculty Lecture Series, will be held on Thursday, April 3, from 12–1 p.m. in Parker 240. Haskell’s lecture will explore the limitations of the scientific method and empirical means to uncover absolute truths about the world. Through investigating the root of scientific knowledge, Haskell will analyze the roles of experience, perception, and logic in forming our beliefs about the world around us. The Faculty Lecture Series draws on the college faculty’s diverse areas of interest in the humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences. This lecture is free to the public.
