Director of International Institute for Franchise Education Honored

Cheryl R. Babcock, CFE, founding director of the International Institute for Franchise Education in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at NSU, was honored by the International Franchise Association’s Women’s Franchise Committee with its prestigious Crystal Compass award for her exemplary leadership in franchise education. The association is meeting in Orlando for its 48th annual convention.

Babcock, who designs and develops executive education programs, leadership courses and teaches undergraduate franchise management classes, has served as executive director and arrangements chairwoman of the International Society of Franchising, a multidisciplinary, multi-national organization of academic teachers and researchers for 20 years.

She serves on IFA’s Educational Foundation’s board of trustees, Membership Committee and the Institute for Certified Franchise Executives’ board of governors. She received the organization’s Free Enterprise Award for 2003 honoring her work in strengthening and fostering the development of the free-enterprise system.

Babcock has developed and taught courses on franchising and entrepreneurship in the United States and several foreign countries. In 2008, she will continue her leadership in franchising with a full calendar of educational courses and events at the International Institute for Franchise Education.
