FSEHS Pathologist Elected to Florida Cleft-Palate Craneofacial Group

Tambi Braun, SLP. D., CCC-SLP, assistant director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives and Global Enterprise for Academic Development (S.I.G.E.A.D.) at the Fischler School of Education and Human Services, has been elected president of the Florida Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Association for 2008-2009.

Braun, who also serves as program professor for the Master in Speech Language Pathology, is also a program instructor for the Bachelor of Health Science. She was named Faculty Member of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders for 2005 and 2007. Braun received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, and her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Nova Southeastern University. She has been a full-time faculty member since 2002.

Braun has been a consultant in Speech-Language Pathology for the Joe Dimaggio Craniofacial Center and the CMS Broward Craniofacial Team for the past five years. Her investment in the needs of the community in South Florida and her strength as a leader in the field of Craniofacial Disorders was demonstrated by her election to the executive committee as secretary of the Florida Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association in 2006; vice president in 2007, and now president for 2008.

The Florida Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, Inc., was chartered by the State of Florida in 1962 as a non-profit educational organization dedicated to encouraging scientific research, cooperation among and stimulation of specialists, and promote public interest in craniofacial anomalies. As president Braun will be presiding over all regularly and specially convened meetings of the Association, directing and supervising its scientific and clinical programs, and guiding the professional and community outreach of the organization.
