SHSS Alumnus Received AFTA Award

Stephen Madigan, MSW, MSc, Ph.D., an alumnus of the Department of Family Therapy in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, was honored by the American Family Therapy Academy in 2007 with the Distinguished Award for Innovative Practice in Couple and Family Therapy Theory and Practice. He is the first recipient from Canada.

Madigan is an approved supervisor for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a certified family mediator. He directs the Yaletown Family Therapy Training in Canada and teaches narrative therapy workshops worldwide. 

Madigan was the SHSS Alumnus of the Year in 1998.
