Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology Inducts 16 New Members

Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, held its sixth annual induction ceremony at NSU on April 12 where 16 new members were inducted and three new officers were installed.

The induction began with welcoming remarks given by Laxmi Lalwani, 2007-2008 Psi Chi president, and Weylin Sternglanz, Ph.D., faculty adviser for Psi Chi and assistant professor in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. Todd Shackelford, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Evolutionary Psychology Program at Florida Atlantic

University, delivered the keynote speech. Shackelford is one of the world’s leading experts in evolutionary psychology. Closing remarks were made by Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

The event honored some of the best psychology majors and minors in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences. It was the culmination of some exceptionally hard work by the Psi Chi students, particularly the officers. Refreshments were served before and after the event.
