NSU to Host 2008 International Child Health Forum – May 5 Nova Southeastern University will host a conference on Monday, May 5, to discuss global health concerns that affect children. The 2008 International Child Health Forum will be held at NSU’s Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center. Organized by NSU’s Institute for Child Health Policy, the forum seeks to provide insights into socioeconomic, environmental and technological changes that have led to an epidemic of childhood health problems around the world. The forum is a learning experience designed specifically for those who want to enrich their knowledge of global health concern, as well as to galvanize the mutual efforts of emerging coalitions and partnerships -- some of which didn’t exist just a year ago. By attending this continuing education conference, which convenes world renowned authorities, including leadership from the World Health Organization, United Nations and Pan American Health Organizations, the participants will be offered the rare opportunity to participate in promoting standards for the health, safety and well being of our children and families. Some of the forum’s speakers will include Howard A. Zucker, M.D., J.D., who most recently served as the assistant director general of the World Health Organization in charge of Health Technology and Pharmaceuticals; Jeremy Howell, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of exercise and sport science at the University of San Francisco; Kenneth Ginsburg, M.D., FAAP, associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania; Cyril Blavo, D.O., MPH TM, FACOP, NSU professor of pediatrics and public health; Scott Poland, Ed.D., NSU associate professor of psychology and past president National Association of School Psychologists; Gerardo Cabrera-Meza, M.D., medical director of the Neonatology Program at Texas Children’s Hospital and Regional Consultant to the Pan American Health Organization; Pan G.
