Fischler School Welcomed Teachers From Argentina

The Fischler School of Education and Human Services (FSEHS), in conjunction with CREAD (the Inter-American Distance Education Consortium), were recently awarded an international contract to train teachers from Argentina. Through this endeavor, 43 teachers and school administrators attended classes on the NSU campus from Sept. 30 - Oct. 24 to pursue one of three programs: Educational Leadership, Innovation & Technology, and English as a Foreign Language.

Part of the program partnered students with Broward County School District to be a part of various elementary, middle and high school classes.

In 2003, FSEHS became the new host and educational partners for CREAD, one of the Western Hemisphere’s most respected distance education organizations. CREAD was founded in 1990 at the International Council for Distance Education World Conference in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently has a membership span into 27 countries from Canada through Chile.

CREAD’s mission is to provide universal access to lifelong education in the Americas. Institutions and individuals in every country in the Americas work together as CREAD members to increase the outreach and efficiency of their educational programs to help their societies better meet the challenges of the new century. Armando Villarroel, Ph.D., executive director of CREAD, relocated in 2003 from administrative offices at Pennsylvania State University to CREAD’s current offices on the North Miami Beach campus of FSEHS.
