Phase II of the NSU Athletics Hall of Fame was installed last week in the atrium of the University Center.  The existing NSU Athletics Hall of Fame wall was unveiled as the first phase of the project, in conjunction with the induction of the Inaugural NSU Athletics Hall of Fame class last spring.

The new exhibit includes a timeline that documents key historical moments from the first three decades of NSU Athletics.  Two trophy cases featuring artifacts from the “Knights” and “Sharks” eras are the central point of the exhibit.  Story panels highlighting the Department of Athletics’ leadership history, national prominence, future successes and the evolution of the mascot are built into the custom cases.

Action graphics of NSU student-athletes wrap the two columns in the exhibit area and are also featured on serpentine banners that hang from the ceiling above the Athletics Hall of Fame.

In addition, the names of last year’s nine All-Americans, three SSC Players of the Year, three SSC Freshman of the Year, and three SSC Conference Championship teams, have been permanently etched onto the glass plaques that presently adorn the Athletics Hall of Fame wall.

The NSU Athletics Hall of Fame was created by Chris Hayes of Cannon Design, the architectural designers of the University Center.  The Hall of Fame exhibit was manufactured by 1220 Exhibits, which has previously manufactured Athletic Hall of Fames for Arizona State University, Cornell University, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Kansas, the University of Alabama and the University of Connecticut.

Phase II of the Athletics Hall of Fame was made possible through fundraising efforts by the Department of Athletics.
