Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences Celebrates 20 Years
More than 120 people celebrated the 20th Anniversary of NSU's Graduate School of Humanities & Social Sciences (SHSS) on May 22. Among the attendees were NSU President Emeritus Abe Fischler; Davie Mayor Tom Truex; The Honorable Gisele Pollack, 4th DCA, County Court Judge, 17th Circuit; and St. Thomas University Provost Gregory Chan. Florida Senator Jeremy Ring (D-Parkland), SHSS Advisory Board member, served as an emcee, and shared passionately with the cheerful crowd about his experience working with SHSS over the years. In his address, NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr., recognized the steady growth and fine quality of the School, while Honggang Yang, Ph.D., dean of SHSS, acknowledged the enormous contributions of faculty, students, alumni, staff, and community partners. SHSS, which was founded in 1987, now offers three doctoral programs, four master's programs, and several graduate certificate programs offered in a variety of delivery formats.
