Celebrating 20 years of service to NSU, the Office of Public Safety recently hosted its annual Public Safety Award of Merit Ceremony, which recognizes individuals who have exemplified NSU”s definition of professionalism, by putting the needs of others above their own through accountability, compassion, integrity and respect.

This year, Bronson Steve Bias, executive director of Protective Services and John J. Santulli, II, Vice President of Facilities Management, received special 20th year commemorations for the outstanding innovative leadership and support that has made the NSU Protective Care Giving Programs a nationally recognized model for campus safety and security.

Public Safety Officer Dennis Dubsky received the department's highest annual honor, the Ben Tallarico Award of Merit, named to commemorate the late public safety officer Ben Tallarico.
- Kristen McNamara, Public Safety Coordinator, received the Public Safety Coordinator of the Year Award
- David, Baker, Public Safety Locksmith, received the John Yessman Service Award, named in honor of the late public safety officer
- James Lambe, Public Safety Manager, received a new award - the Executive Director’s Special Achievement Award.
Awards and recipients included:
- Public Safety Business Partner of the Year: Miami Dolphins’ Security, represented by John Nessl.
- Public Safety Team Players of the Year: Jim Jao, NSU Office of Information Technology Systems Administrator, and NSU’s neighbor, Ken Rebstock, Shell Gas Station Manager.
