Walk For Autism Research – April 21
The walk is on – rain or shine! Join thousands of individuals, families, friends and community members in taking steps toward finding the missing pieces in the cause of Autism Spectrum Disorder. After the walk, enjoy a full day of family-oriented events, activities, a resource fair and more. On April 21st the 2007 Broward County Walk for Autism Research will take place on NSU’s main Davie Campus beginning in front of the Alvin Sherman Library. Each and every walk participant, whether a co-chair, a committee member, a team captain, a walker or a donor, plays a critical role in the Walk for Autism Research by championing the cause to advance and accelerate autism research. Last year more than $250,000 was raised. This year, the NSU Davie Campus is targeting to raise $300,000. Check in time is 9 a.m. Walk starts at 10 a.m. To get involved, it is easy. Step 1 – Register online – it is easy. Go to www.autismwalk.org and select the Broward County, April 21st Walk. Step 2 – Form a team or join an existing one – Teams are a fun and easy way to get friends together and raise funds for an important cause. The whole family can take part. Follow the instructions on the web site and tell your family, friends and neighbors. Even if they can’t attend the walk, they can still participate as a member of your team. Step 3 – Raise Funds – collect donations immediately using the online fundraising tools at www.autismwalk.org. You can even create your own web page telling your personal story and email it to everyone you know. Autism Speaks and the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) recently combined operations, bringing together two of the leading organizations dedicated to accelerating and funding biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for autism spectrum disorders; to increasing awareness of the nation's fastest growing developmental disorder; and to advocating for the needs of affected families. NSU is dedicated to this cause and hosting the Broward County Walk for Autism Research on campus is just one of the ways it helps champion the cause. In the next few weeks leading up to the April 21st Walk for Autism Research, look for additional details and information throughout campus and on the website that will help make 2007 yet another successful fundraising year.
