NSU Celebrates Homecoming 2007

Ribbon Cutting

Thanks to the recently completed University Center, for the first time in Nova Southeastern University’s history, the 2007 Homecoming games and related special events were hosted on main campus in Davie.  Highlights included the unveiling of a mural by renowned marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey, and the ribbon cutting for the Center’s new Performing Arts Wing.

“A Tribute to Sharks,” which is housed at NSU’s new University Center, is the largest mural Harvey has created - measuring 40’ x 250’ and features 19 species of shark, some of which are three dimensional – the University’s mascot. Harvey has also created two smaller murals for the University measuring 50’ x 40’ and 25’ x 50.’

Bill Shedd, president of AFTCO Manufacturing Company in Irvine, California, which manufactures the fine apparel with the Guy Harvey logo, presented the Guy Harvey Research Institute at NSU with a donation for $96,000.

NSU President Ray Ferrero, Jr., and members of the NSU Board of Trustees led a ribbon cutting for the center’s new Performing Arts Wing, which features a black box theater, a 300 seat theater, scene shop and recital halls.
