FSEHS Administrator Receives Gubernatorial Appointment

The Fischler School of Education and Human Services is proud to announce the recent gubernatorial appointment of Delores M. Smiley, Ed.D., to the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers (FFMT) Board of Directors. As a member of the Board of Directors, she will serve a three-year term among 16 other members representing public schools and institutions of higher education.

The mission of the FFMT is tri-fold:

  • To increase the number of minority teachers in Florida to better reflect our state’s diverse population;
  • To provide financial awards and extensive pre-professional development to deserving candidates;
  • To positively impact public education by expanding knowledge paradigms of learning and teaching in preparing our youth.

Nova Southeastern University is among the 33 colleges and universities participating in this scholarship program.  For additional information of the scholarship offering, contact Maxine Mason at 954-262-7900 or small@nsu.nova.edu

Last spring, Smiley was honored as NSU’s Executive of the Year and she just recently received notice that the Master of Science Degree in Instructional Design and Diversity Education she authored has been approved by the NSU Board of Trustees.
