Master of International Business Students Travel to China
An enthusiastic group of Master of International Business Administration students from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship recently traveled to Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China for the 15th annual International Field Seminar (IFS). The week of seminars and company visits was coordinated under the direction of Ruth Clarke, Ph.D., Associate Professor and the Chair of International Business at the Huizenga School. Starting in Hong Kong, and focusing on the relationship between Hong Kong and China, the group visited the U.S. Commercial Office. They also enjoyed a lecture by Dr. Lau, a professor from Chinese University of Hong Kong. Following the lecture, the students dined for lunch at the Helena May House, a Hong Kong historical institution. Another stop on the group of MIBA student’s trip involved traveling by fast train to Guangzhou, where they were hosted by Sun Yat-Sen University, named after a Chinese national hero. The university provided faculty speakers and visits to Honda Corporation and a Chinese pharmaceutical company. This was the first trip to China for all the students, and provided an eye-opening and educational experience for all. Dr. Clarke develops, organizes and runs the annual IFS trips, and is planning a trip to India for next year.
