NSU Executive Vice President Delivers Keynote Address at 2007 BioTech Conference
George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., NSU’s Executive Vice-President/COO, gave a keynote address to the Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida Biotech 2007 Conference recently held on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. Hanbury’s address outlined the collaborations that NSU has with local universities, NSU’s co-operation in the lambda rail project, and in housing the US Geological Survey everglades restoration project. Hanbury showcased how research and educational advancement at NSU will grow with the planned creation of the $500 million Academical Village on the main campus. “NSU’s infrastructure investments and biotech collaborations will promote economic development in the South Florida region,” said Hanbury. NSU was also represented by Patrick Hardigan, Ph.D., Chair of the Health Professions Research Committee, who presented a poster titled, “Prediction models for risk of falling among older adults.” W. Grady Campbell, Ph.D., of the College of Medical Sciences who presented a poster, “Focused arrays to investigate insulin action in skeletal muscle cells.” Peter E. Murray, Ph.D., College of Dental Medicine, presented a poster titled: Dental pulp tissue engineering. Franklin Garcia-Godoy, DDS., Associate Dean for Research at the College of Dental Medicine, was a panelist in the forum titled: Collaborations in Biomedical Science. The 2007 BioTech conference was attended by over 300 industry leaders, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, scientists, and innovators. NSU is a supporter and sponsor of the Enterprise Development Corporation of South Florida, a non profit organization, that assists emerging science and technology companies.
