U.S. Dept of Labor Assistant Secretary W. Roy Grizzard and Florida Senator Nan Rich (D-Sunrise) were speakers at “Building Bridges: Blueprints for Success,” a Disability Workforce Summit sponsored by Nova Southeastern University’s Fischler School of Education and Human Services at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Tuesday, May 23.

The purpose of the Disabilities Workforce Summit was to create a change agenda for Florida's Workforce Disability Policy in the areas of competitive and self-employment of persons with disabilities in Florida. The Summit brought together a host of professionals in the disability employment system to discuss key issues and develop an action agenda to better engage Florida employers and individuals with disabilities.

The Summit concluded with focus groups of 12 to15 disability employment system policy influencers, policymakers, and policy implementers, who discussed the key perspectives and developed priorities and recommendations for system change.
