Masters of International Business Administration Students Visit South Africa
In March, 17 masters of international business administration students from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship traveled to South Africa for a week of seminars hosted by the University of South Africa. Throughout the trip, the students, who were accompanied by Dr. Ruth Clarke, Professor and Chair of International Business, visited major companies in South Africa including Vodacom, SABMiller and AngloGoldAshanti. The corporate visits allowed the students to talk with international business executives, including those employed by the U.S. Commercial Service. In addition, the students were able learn first-hand about the transition and competitive development of South Africa from some of the leading business experts in country.
During the trip, the group traveled to places such as Johannesburg and Cape Town, where they had the opportunity to tour the University of Stellenbosch. They were able to finish-up their educational visit with a banquet lunch held at the beautiful Spier Vineyard. The South Africa visit was an unparallel opportunity for international business majors to gain real-world experience, which may not have been possible otherwise.
