Applications now being accepted for new Master of Science in Education Law

This two-year, 30-credit Master of Science in Education Law offers education professionals understanding of the intricacies of new federal legislation such as FERPA, IDEA, HIPPA, and No Child Left Behind and the interrelationship between theory and practice. Finally, M.S. Ed.L. graduates will find themselves prepared for the challenges presented by new legislation, regulations, and judicial decisions governing the American education system.

Each student will complete three 20-week terms of coursework, attend three brief on-campus Institutes for the Study of Education Law and complete an Individual Research Project in seminar format. The 20-week terms of coursework are each divided into two ten-week-long sessions. Students take two courses per session. Students have approximately six months to complete an in-depth research project.

To accommodate the need of education professionals to remain in their present location and employment and , at the same time, draw upon a nationwide faculty, the MS Ed.L program is uniquely offered via NSU Law’s state-of-the-art, Internet-based distance learning technology. The majority of work, with the exception of attendance to three brief on campus Institutes, would be accomplished conveniently from the student’s own home, on the student’s own timing, without requiring compromise of career and other obligations.

The M.S. Ed.L. is offered through the Shepard Broad Law Center with collaboration from the the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies and the Fischler School of Education and Human Services. Timothy L. Arcaro, J.D., is the program director.  It was developed by Associate Director Geoff Still, M.Acc., J.D., who is also Director of Finance and Operations at the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies.
