The NSU women’s tennis doubles duo of Alexa Korotkevich (So., St. Petersburg, Russia) and Ulia Talalenko (Fr., Naples, Fla.) earned All-America status earlier this week from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The pair became the first ever NSU women’s tennis All-Americans since the Sharks began play in NCAA Division II play in 2003. The duo was ranked as high as No. 8 in the nation in doubles competition in the Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings and No. 3 in the Southeast Region. The pair was also a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection in doubles play after posting an impressive record of 19-4 as the Sharks' number one combination in 2006. Korotkevich played in the number one singles position throughout the 2006 season, posting an overall record of 15-6. She was named SSC Player of the Week twice during the season and was ranked as high as No. 17 in the nation and No. 5 in the region in the Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings. Talalenko was equally impressive as NSU's number two player with a record of 14-5. The freshman ranked as high as No. 25 nationally and No. 8 regionally in the Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
