Women’s Rowing Team Finishes Third at NCAA Championships for Second Consecutive Year

The Nova Southeastern University women's rowing team finished third for the second consecutive year at the NCAA Division II Women’s Rowing National Championships, held last weekend on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

The Sharks Varsity 8+ crew placed 3rd in Sunday’s NCAA DII Grand Final with a time of 7:25:44, following V8+ winners Western Washington University (7:17:64) and 2nd place finishers Barry University (7:18:68). Florida Tech finished seven seconds behind NSU for 4th place with a time of 7:32:34.

Western Washington took 1st in the Varsity 4+ Grand Final, by six-seconds (8:24:15) over Barry University and secured the overall team championship with the sweep in both races and 20 team points. Barry finished 2nd as a team with 15 team points, NSU was 3rd with 8 team points and UC San Diego was 4th with 7 points.

Combined with the NSU Varsity 4+ crew's 4th place finish in Saturday's semifinal race, the Sharks equaled their 3rd place team finish of a year ago

NSU is the only crew to earn a trip to the National Rowing Championships in each of its first three seasons on the water, as the varsity 8+ crew earned a 5th place finish in their 2003-04 inaugural season followed by last year’s third-place showing.
