Fischler School and University of Rome-La Sapienza begin International Master’s Program
The Fischler School of Education and Human Services (FSEHS) and The University of Rome-La Sapienza recently started the ITDE/International E-Learning Master’s program that combines courses delivered by the FSEHS-ITDE faculty, and faculty from the School of Communication Sciences at the University of Rome-La Sapienza. Courses lead to a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology/Distance Education from NSU-FSEHS, and an equivalent degree in e-Learning from The University of Rome-La Sapienza upon successful completion of the program. The program started in April 2006, and students are currently attending face-to face classes in Italy, until next September when they start the “online” portion of the program by taking classes delivered by faculty from FSEHS. In April 2007, students will attend the on-site institute component of their program at NSU-FSEHS to finalize their final projects and submit their portfolios. The University of Rome-La Sapienza (Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza) was founded in 1313, and is the largest university in Western Europe. It is one of the city's three public universities and has 21 schools, colleges and centers and 160,000 students. This is a unique dual degree program that the FSEHS Office of International Affairs hopes to continue offering in partnership with The University of Rome-La Sapienza, and with other universities in Europe, Latin American and Asia to reach those interested in innovative and high quality programs in the field of distance education and instructional technology.
