College of Osteopathic Medicine Receives $700,000 in Federal Funds for New ProgramThe Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Florida Department of Corrections are providing approximately $700,000 in funding for the College of Osteopathic Medicine's new postdoctoral, post-residency Correctional Medicine Physician Fellowship Program, which will officially commence in July 2006. The participating fellows, who will also earn an M.P.H. degree during their stay in the two-year program, will be working at multiple sites, including prisons in Lake Butner, North Carolina, and Lake Butler, Florida. They will also gain experience at other public and private correctional facilities during their two-year fellowship.
