FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – University School will
host an Open House, Grades 6-12, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Nov.
21.
A part of Nova Southeastern University, University
School enrolls approximately 1,500 students in pre-kindergarten through
grade 12.
Admission to University School is determined
by a number of factors, which vary with grade levels. Students may
be evaluated based upon, standardized testing, personal interviews
or observation sessions, academic records, teacher recommendations,
previous school experiences, qualities of character and concern for
others.
In establishing its student population, University
School seeks to effect a match between each applicant's learning profile
and the nature of the instructional programs the school offers. Prior
to acceptance, the Office of Admission evaluates each applicant's overall
performance and academic history.
University School admits students
whose learning profiles - scholastic aptitude, academic achievement, and social/emotional behavior - are average to gifted. University School accepts the premise that each child is unique in ability, talent, and learning style. In accepting that premise, the school recognizes its responsibility in creating an appropriate learning environment for each student.
University School supports the standards adopted by the State of Florida and our accrediting agencies that "a child entering kindergarten should be five years of age by September 1."
