NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Names New Dean

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL. - Nova Southeastern University President Ray Ferrero, Jr., has named Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., as the new dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, effective September 20, 2004.
Prior to his appointment as Dean, Rosenblum
served at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) for six and one half years,
most recently as Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences.
While serving as Associate Dean, Rosenblum was instrumental in developing
and launching the college’s successful honors program, as well as helping to oversee the successful transitions of the undergraduate business and education programs to the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship and the Fischler School of Education and Human Services respectively.
“Since his appointment as Interim Dean of the college on May 9, 2004, Dr. Rosenblum has done an excellent job by keeping the college focused on its strategic mission and by managing the day-to-day operations with great success. Dr. Rosenblum has the leadership, vision and skills necessary to lead the college’s faculty, administration, staff, and students towards achieving preeminence. He has also demonstrated a capacity to collaborate well with leaders from the other academic and administrative units across the university. The combination of these abilities outlined above makes him the best choice for the position,” said Ferrero.
“The College of Arts and Sciences will be one of the catalysts for our university’s continued growth and success,” he continued. “The wide range of majors and course offerings, our undergraduate honors program and dual admissions enrollment options are helping fuel the College’s continuing double digit growth.”
Rosenblum’s experience in higher education spans more than three decades. Prior to joining NSU, he served as an Assistant/Associate Dean at Johns Hopkins University, Delaware Valley College, and George Mason University. His instructional background includes undergraduate and graduate level courses, in the areas of higher education, student affairs, human development, governance and finance, and sociology.
He received his bachelor’ degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, his master’s degree in College Student Personnel and his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from The Ohio State University. Rosenblum has published in his areas of expertise, has been presenter and consultant in those fields, and has authored and directed several grants and contracts. Highly committed to innovation and technology in higher education, he has been actively involved in Honors Education at several colleges and universities.
NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences offers 14 undergraduate majors with courses available in online and traditional formats. The College, whose alumni include prestigious Goldwater and Truman scholars, prepares students for graduate work and professional careers.
