Nova Singers Announce 29th Holiday/Winter Concert Season
“Celebrating the Seasons”
FORT LAUDERDALE , FL —The Nova Singers of Nova Southeastern University -a 130-voice chorus under the leadership of founder Peggy Joyce Barber- will kick off their 29 th holiday/winter concert season, “Celebrating the Seasons,” beginning December 3.
This holiday season the Nova Singers will perform a collection of choral classics from Bach to Beethoven, as well as a variety of Christmas and Hanukah favorites and international seasonal songs.
Scheduled performances include:
- Friday, December 3, 8:15 p.m., at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 140 SE 28 Avenue, Pompano Beach, (954) 942-4843. Donation: $10.00 at the door.
- Sunday, December 5, 4:00 p.m., at Congregational Church of Boca Raton, 251 SW 4 Avenue, Boca Raton, (561) 395-9255. Admission is free; however free-will donations are appreciated.
- Tuesday, December 7, 8:15 p.m., at “The Sanctuary” of Second Presbyterian Church, 1400 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, (954) 564-7600. Donation: $10.00 at the door.
The Nova Singers is comprised of people from all walks of life - from high-school students to retirees - as well as representatives from the NSU student body, faculty, and staff. Its lightly blended choral sound is often demonstrated by music from the Renaissance. Most often the group performs classical choral music, but selections also frequently include sacred, contemporary, Broadway, opera, and pops.
The Nova Singers have performed in Carnegie Hall, the National Cathedral in Washington , D.C. , churches and cathedrals throughout Europe, and most venues in Southeast Florida, including the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and Gusman Hall at the University of Miami .
