University School Students to Honor Veterans
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL— Students at University School of Nova Southeastern University will commemorate Veterans Day with a solemn ceremony honoring the sacrifices made by this country’s men and women in uniform, all the while teaching fellow students about the importance and significance of the holiday. The ceremony will take place at 11:15 a.m. at the school’s Sports Center on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Students will honor local veterans in attendance by reciting poetry, and performing songs and character reenactments of noted Americans. The United States Customs National Honor Guard also will participate, and the ceremony will culminate in a special presentation of the American Flag to Dr. Steven M. Blinder, director of the Middle School. The flag was donated to the school by Congressman Robert Wexler, and includes a certificate from the Congressman honoring 7th and 8th grade students who visited Washington D.C. in May.
University School of Nova Southeastern University is a private pre-kindergarten through 12th grade college preparatory school located on NSU’s main campus in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The school was founded in 1971 as a university-based laboratory school, and has grown into one of the largest, most successful independent college preparatory schools in Florida.
