South Florida Poet Celebrates the Lives We Live at NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Michael Hettich, Ph.D., a pillar of the South Florida poetry community, will read new and selected works on Sunday, November 16, 2003, from 2-4 PM on the main campus at Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale. This reading is free to the public.
An English and Creative Writing professor at Miami-Dade College, Hettich has published 10 books and chapbooks. His work is distinctive for its elegant, humane expression of the relationships and experiences that give our lives value. In this reading, Hettich will present material from two recent chapbooks, The Point of Touching and Behind Our Memories, as well as poems from a forthcoming volume of selected poems titled The Stationary Wind.
While his writing has earned the respect of his peers and his audiences, Hettich is also esteemed for his teaching accomplishments and his active support of public literary events in South Florida, including the annual Miami International Book Fair.
Hettich’s appearance is co-sponsored by the Hannah Kahn Poetry Foundation and the Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). NSU is located a mile south of I-595. The Library is near the center of the NSU campus, 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd., easily accessible from SW 30th St., east of University Drive.
