NSU’s Law Center To Host Minority Law Day This Saturday

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL— Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, in cooperation with the Law Student Division of the Hispanic National Bar Association, will host Minority Law Day this upcoming Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The free event is designed to introduce minorities to the study and practice of law.

The Student Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, Black Law Students Organization, Asian Pacific Law Students Organization, Jewish Law Student Association, Caribbean Law Student Association, and Christian Legal Society all helped organize the event in order to acquaint minority students with the challenges and opportunities of law school and assist them with information regarding admissions.

“NSU is one of the most diverse schools that I have seen,” said Gabriel J. Carrera, regional president of the Hispanic National Bar Association/Law School Division. “The minority students here want to reach out their hands into their communities to bring forward others to show them that the opportunity for a legal education and a law career exists. The goal is to bring additional diversity to our school.”

Those attending the event will be provided with an opportunity to interact with law students, practicing lawyers, and law professors. Participants will have a chance to interact with students from minority law school organizations, tour the center, learn about different settings in which lawyers practice law (including corporate practice, private practice, governmental practice, and non-traditional legal careers), receive information on the Law School Admission Test and NSU Law’s admission policies, and experience mock law classes with law students.

NSU’s Shepard Broad Law Center is located at 3305 College Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, 33314. For more information, contact Carrera at carrerag@nsu.law.nova.edu. To RSVP, call (954) 262-6117.

Referring to NSU as Nova may confuse our school with another university with a similar name and/or with the Nova Schools in the Broward County School District. Thank you.
