NSU To Celebrate “A Knight's Tale," Homecoming 2003
Homecoming Weekend Scheduled for October 31 - November 1
FORT LAUDERDALE - Halloween will be especially exciting this year at Nova
Southeastern University, as students, alumni, faculty and staff celebrate “A
Knight’s Tale,” Homecoming 2003. A multitude of scheduled rituals
and events will kick off a week of activities, which include a Block Painting
Party on October 26, and Comedy Night on October 29, featuring comedians Denny
Moore and Joe Miller, who have performed on HBO, at Uncle Funny’s Comedy
Club and more.
Two fun events that separate the children from the adults are the “Pedal
to the Metal” Tricycle Race, and the 13th Annual “Anything Floats” Raft
Race. The annual Dinner/Dance and Alumni Reception bring the festivities to an
elegant close with the presentation of the Homecoming Court.
A detailed itinerary of the weekend events is listed below:
- Friday, October 31, 4:00 p.m. “Pedal to the Metal.” The second annual
tricycle race on NSU’s campus will take place in the roundabout in front
of the Horvitz Administration Building on NSU’s main campus. Each team
will consist of four members, two women and two men. The first place winner will
receive four Homecoming tickets, and a free Hummer Limousine from 8 p.m.-2 a.m.
to attend the Homecoming Dance. Second place will also win four Homecoming tickets
and a $300 shopping spree, while the third place winners will receive six Homecoming
tickets.
- Friday, October 31, 5:00 p.m. “Anything that Floats.” This 13th annual
raft race will take place at NSU’s Gold Circle Lake. Student Activities
will sponsor each team of six, (three men, and three women), up to $50. All rafts
are constructed by students from materials that are in the original form; that
is, materials that were not meant to be a flotation device. The first-place prize
winners will receive six Homecoming tickets, and a Hummer Limousine from 8 p.m.-2
a.m. to attend the Homecoming Dance. Second place winners will receive six Homecoming
tickets, and a $600 shopping spree, and third place will receive six Homecoming
tickets.
- Friday, October 31, 7:00 p.m. Picnic/Dinner. NSU students can dress in their
favorite costume, as faculty members will serve as hosts for this casual event,
which takes place on the grounds adjacent to Gold Circle Lake.
- Saturday, November 1, “Alumni Reception and Homecoming Dance.” The
Alumni Reception will be held poolside at Westin Hotel (I-95 and Cypress Creek
Road). The NSU Alumni reception will run from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and the Homecoming
dinner/dance will begin at 8:00, where the 2003 Homecoming court will be announced.
