NSU’s Mailman Segal Institute to Host Visit by Al Gore
Climate Change Project Messenger
The Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies invites faculty, staff and students to a compelling event featuring one of Al Gore’s Climate Change Project Messengers.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 16, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Roberta Fernandez, who has served as a senior mentor in the Project, promises an eye-opening presentation about the effects of climate changes to our communities and will provide solutions to empower us to make a difference. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
The Climate Project is a movement designed to educate and challenge community members in taking action to halt the growing crisis of global warming. Fernandez is president of Environmental Advocacy, a company that advises businesses and local governments on how to become more efficient environmental stewards. She is also developing and gathering support for a model program to present to Governor Crist that focuses on education and action for residents of Florida.
Mailman Segal Institute is hosting this engaging opportunity for the NSU campus community to learn about how to respond, in a practical manner, to the threat of global warming,” said Dr. Roni Cohen Leiderman, Interim Dean of the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies, who is also trained as a Climate Change Messenger by Al Gore.
This free informative program will take place at the Miniaci Performing Arts Center located on NSU's main campus at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. in Davie, FL. The media is invited. To attend, RSVP to Lourdes Rodriguez-Barrera in the Office of Public Affairs at NSU at 954-262-5309. NSU students, faculty and staff are asked to RSVP by calling 954-262-7162 or emailing wynnea@nova.edu.
The Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies is housed in the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village on the main campus of Nova Southeastern University. A state of the art demonstration and training facility, the village enables the institute to showcase best practices in the fields of early childhood education, family support, parenting education, and autism. The Mailman Segal Institute is rich in parenting programs designed to strengthen families and enhance the ability of parents and caregivers to foster the healthy development of children.
