“Spanish Pathways” Exhibit Winds its Way to NSU
FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE- Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center will be hosting “Spanish Pathways,” an exhibit of framed posters on loan from the Museum of Florida History which examine the impact of Spanish culture on Florida.
The exhibit, displayed in the new 2nd floor gallery, will be shown from September 15 - October 15, at the library, located at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. Exhibit hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Viewers will trace the influence of the Spanish settlers in Florida from 1492 to 1992. Beginning with the early exploration of the peninsula in the fifteenth century, the 13 portrayed images investigate the earliest cattle industry, the Navez expedition, De Soto’s epic march, Catholic mission sites, St. Augustine, Ft. Mose, Count Galvez and the American Revolution, the Second Spanish Era, Paulina Pedrosa and Las Patriotas, the cigar industry, and the 1959 Cuban Revolution.
