NSU Welcomes Undergraduates Back to Campus
Broward County’s Only Intercollegiate Residence Halls Open Doors Friday to More than 300 Students

FORT LAUDERDALE-Nova Southeastern University is gearing up to welcome more than 300 new and returning students of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences as they begin moving into Leo Goodwin Residence Hall and Founders Halls - the only intercollegiate residence halls in Broward County - this Friday, August 22nd. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. with local community vendors providing refreshments.

Following the move-in, residents can relax that evening during the sixth annual "Got Wood" giant bonfire and kickoff party, which highlights the various activities planned for the undergraduates this weekend. Sponsored by the NSU student government association, the party begins at 7:00 p.m., and is expected to draw approximately 500 students and faculty onto the Leo Goodwin Residence Hall lawn.

The weekend's events include Greek Life Recruitment activities, and a Match Mix-up Mixer from 9:00 p.m. to midnight in the Flight Deck of Rosenthal Student Center building.

Festivities conclude on Sunday with the Welcoming Night gathering, featuring an official greeting from Norma Goonen, Ed.D., dean of Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, along with NSU's faculty, incoming student government and returning organizations.

"We are very excited about this year's incoming class. I met many of them at orientation, and they were great leaders on their high school campus, excellent servants to their local communities, and ready to begin their college career, said Lua Hancock, NSU's Director of Residential Life and Housing. “We enjoy the opportunity to provide them a place to live and grow. Students learn a great deal about themselves and others when they are apart of our residential community. We work to connect the in-class and residential life experiences into a holistic education."
