Nova Southeastern University Ranks As 10th Largest Independent In United States

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL-Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is now ranked the 10th largest independent, not-for-profit, post-secondary institution in the United States, based on enrollment of 21,619 students for fall term 2002. NSU ranks behind 9th place University of Pennsylvania and in front of 11th place Columbia University, New York.

Over the last ten years, NSU enrollments have increased 75 percent, and the continued growth has moved the university from 14th place in 1999 with an enrollment of 17,958, to 12th place in 2001 with an enrollment of 19,067 students.

The data, which is collected by the Integrated Post Secondary Education Data System (IPEDS), includes all U.S. regions. (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/).
The top 11 largest not-for-profit institutions were:

Nova Southeastern University, which has produced 74,000 alumni, emphasizes the value of bringing education to students, especially working professionals who seek to improve their expertise without interrupting their careers.

The university’s 16 academic centers, colleges, and schools offer programs in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, optometry, allied health, medical sciences, dental medicine, law, marine biology, business and entrepreneurship, computer and information sciences, humanities, conflict resolution, family therapy, interdisciplinary studies, education, psychology and counseling, and family programs. The university also offers 16 undergraduate majors through the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

Since 1971, NSU has enjoyed full accreditation by the Commission on Colleges of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
