FORT LAUDERDALE, FL— Faculty and staff members from Nova
Southeastern University’s Fischler Graduate School of Education
and Human Services (FGSEHS) recently attended the NAACP 94th Annual
Convention in Miami, which concluded with the Military and Veteran’s
Affairs formal dinner at the Fontainebleau Hotel.
The NSU attendees were privileged to be guests of actor and entertainer
Ben Vereen, who performed for the crowd during the celebratory
occasion. The FGSEHS faculty members included: Dennis Gallagher,
Ed.D., cluster coordinator for the Child and Youth Studies Doctoral
Program and adjunct faculty for the National Graduate Teacher
Education Program (master’s degree); Vicky Gallagher, Ed.D.,
adjunct faculty for the Child and Youth Studies Doctoral Program
and for the National Graduate Teacher Education Program (Masters
Degree); Sharon Santilli, Ed.D., associate director of Academics
for FGSEHS’s Graduate Leadership Studies Division; and Lorraine
Vitchoff, Ed.D., adjunct faculty for the Educational Leadership
Child and Youth Studies Programs and lead faculty for the National
Graduate Teacher Education Master’s Program.
Among the recognized officials who were also in attendance were
Kweisi Mfume, NAACP president and CEO; Julian Bond, NAACP chairman
of the board, Rev. Benjamin Hooks, former NAACP executive director;
U.S. General Vincent Brooks, and former POW Shoshana Johnson.
The Nova invitees took advantage of networking and discussing
various programs offered by the Fischler Center. |
