FORT LAUDERDALE, FL— Faculty and staff members from Nova Southeastern University’s Fischler Graduate School of Education and Human Services (FGSEHS) recently attended the NAACP 94th Annual Convention in Miami, which concluded with the Military and Veteran’s Affairs formal dinner at the Fontainebleau Hotel.

The NSU attendees were privileged to be guests of actor and entertainer Ben Vereen, who performed for the crowd during the celebratory occasion. The FGSEHS faculty members included: Dennis Gallagher, Ed.D., cluster coordinator for the Child and Youth Studies Doctoral Program and adjunct faculty for the National Graduate Teacher Education Program (master’s degree); Vicky Gallagher, Ed.D., adjunct faculty for the Child and Youth Studies Doctoral Program and for the National Graduate Teacher Education Program (Masters Degree); Sharon Santilli, Ed.D., associate director of Academics for FGSEHS’s Graduate Leadership Studies Division; and Lorraine Vitchoff, Ed.D., adjunct faculty for the Educational Leadership Child and Youth Studies Programs and lead faculty for the National Graduate Teacher Education Master’s Program.

Among the recognized officials who were also in attendance were Kweisi Mfume, NAACP president and CEO; Julian Bond, NAACP chairman of the board, Rev. Benjamin Hooks, former NAACP executive director; U.S. General Vincent Brooks, and former POW Shoshana Johnson.

The Nova invitees took advantage of networking and discussing various programs offered by the Fischler Center.
