NSU Names New Chair to Board of Advisors for Undergraduate College

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) has named entrepreneur Mike Langley, founder and CEO of Langley Resource Group, Fort Lauderdale, as the new chair of its Board of Advisors. During the announcement of his appointment, Langley committed $25,000 to fund the F. Michael Langley Endowed Scholarship within Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

The Board of Advisors is charged with providing assistance and counsel for the overall development and progress of the Farquhar College. This assistance is provided to Dean Norma M. Goonen, Ed.D., and designated staff of Farquhar at regularly scheduled quarterly meetings, as well as other less formal opportunities, as deemed appropriate by either the board chair or the dean.

Langley received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, and received a master’s degree in Information Systems from the Naval Post Graduate School. He amassed over 5,000 hours as a Navy pilot, and retired as a Captain in the Naval Reserve in 2000 aboard the USS Cole.

Prior to forming Langley Group, a business and economic development consulting company, Langley was President/CEO of the Broward Alliance, one of Florida’s most progressive economic development organizations. His involvement as was one of the founders led the emergence of the Internet Coast organization in South Florida. Langley has also served as President/CEO of a Westinghouse/CBS subsidiary considered a world leader in wireless surveillance technology.

His numerous recognitions include receiving an honorary doctorate in humanities from American Intercontinental University for his contributions to business and community development in Florida.

NSU’s Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences offers 16 undergraduate majors with courses available in online and traditional formats. The College, whose alumni include prestigious Goldwater and Truman scholars, prepares students for graduate work and professional careers. In addition, the College offers the brightest student tremendous opportunities to succeed through its innovative Dual Admissions programs.
