NSU Business School to Host T. Boone Pickens
and
Mike Jackson for Town Hall Meeting

Leaders of oil and auto industry to discuss energy on Feb. 17

FT. LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. –Mike Jackson, chairman and chief executive officer of AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, and T. Boone Pickens, chairman of BP Capital Management, will jointly hold a town hall meeting at Nova Southeastern University’s main campus on Feb. 17 to discuss America’s current and future energy situation.

Topics to be discussed include, among others, federal energy policy, the development of new technology, the development of alternative fuel sources and the geopolitical dynamics related to energy today and tomorrow.

NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship is hosting the event, being held from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at 3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd. in Davie. The event is open to the public and RSVPs should be made by calling (954) 262-5008.

Both Jackson and Pickens have been highly vocal in support of new approaches to energy consumption. Pickens has been involved with the oil industry throughout his career yet has recently taken a very public position arguing that petroleum stores will soon begin to decline. He argues that it is essential to develop replacement resources immediately, particularly natural gas.

Jackson has been equally fervent in his advocacy of a reformed energy policy. He supports the consideration of a gas tax to generate revenue for innovation while reducing the number of miles driven, he champions flex fuels and he is a leading voice for the development of cleaner, more efficient vehicles, notably plug-in hybrids.
