Nova Southeastern University’s Farquhar College Of Arts And Sciences To Host 2007 International Women’s Day Celebration
Davie, Fl. – “Education as the Gateway to Women’s Economic Stability and Empowerment” is the theme for the 2007 International Women’s Day Celebration.
With generous support from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, this year’s event is organized by the Ft. Lauderdale Chapter of the American Association of University Women, International Women’s Club, members of Nova Southeastern University’s faculty, staff, and student members of the Leadership Roundtable Scholars, Indian Students Association and the Honors Students Association.
The discussion panel will feature accomplished local women who will share their experiences and address how education has been the gateway to their own economic stability and empowerment. Featured are moderator Kate Waites, PhD, Professor, Humanities Division, NSU; Ms. Fiona Welles, Financial Advisor, UBS Financial Services; Carmen A. Shirley MD, Wilfred McKenzie and Associates; Mrs. Eleanor Sobel, member, The School Board of Broward County.
The International Women’s Day Celebration will take place Friday, March 30, 2007 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM in the atrium of the Carl De Santis Building on the Nova Southeastern University campus, 3301 College Avenue, Davie, Fl. The event is free and open to the public.
International Women’s Day, celebrated worldwide, was established by the United Nations in 1975 to honor women who make significant contributions to their society.
