Home Court Advantage for NSU’s Homecoming 2007 Games and Activities

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Thanks to the recently completed University Center, for the first time in Nova Southeastern University’s history, the 2007 Homecoming games and related special events will be hosted on its main campus, in Davie. Prior to game day on Saturday, January 27, an array of fun-filled festivities will commemorate the celebration, starting Thursday, January 25, including the NSU Shark Rally and Annual Tricycle and “Anything that Floats” Raft Races.
The NSU Shark Rally, a university-wide pep rally, will commence at 11:30 a.m. on the Alvin Sherman Library Quad. During the event, the NSU community will meet the men’s and women’s athletic teams and watch performances by the NSU cheerleaders and Chicks on Point, NSU’s newly implemented step team. Attendees will also get a chance to hang out with NSU mascot, Razor the Shark, and enjoy free food, drinks, and giveaways.

The Annual Tricycle and "Anything that Floats" Raft Races will take place at 2:30 and 4:00 p.m., in front of Horvitz Administration Building and at Gold Circle Lake, respectively. Participating students will speed through an obstacle course on tricycles, and then continue the competition by racing make-shift rafts across the lake. The rafts, constructed from materials in their original form, increase the level of difficulty and add to the excitement of the race, as they were not meant to be used as a flotation device.

Other Homecoming activities, which are free and open to the public, taking place throughout the remainder of week and into the weekend, include:

Friday, Jan. 26

  • The Surprise “Shark Shout-Out” Comedy Show, 8:00 p.m., University Center Arena.

Saturday, Jan. 27

  • Homecoming Tailgate, 2:00 p.m., East entrance of the University Center.
